January...what an exciting month you were!

2015 is off to a very good start. we were in two art shows at the Visual Arts Center here in Punta Gorda, FL - and won two awards!  it's such a wonderful feeling to have your work acknowledged by your peers.

it began in early January with the show The Art of Photography: Life Through the Lens -- and my piece: "A Gondola Ride" -- took 3rd place. the photo was taken in Venice, scanned into my computer, and "painted" with a pen/tablet. it's a process I call "Digitography".

 

 

The second show Wind and Wheels: Interpreting Motion opened Thursday the 29th. Opie and I collaborated for this show and entered one of our most favorite art dolls from our Who's Your Dada book: "Eight - Skate & Rotate" and she too received a 3rd place award. it was extremely exciting for our work to be recognized, as much of the art in Florida is very traditional -- and of course as you all know -- we're not!

 

It's wonderful being able to divide our time between The Berkshires and The Gulf Coast. both places are beautiful, exciting and filled with creative energy! we are truly blessed.

The Print Exchange Exhibition in NYC...

Several months ago we participated in the Sketchbook Project's Print Exchange...

500 artists across the globe participated. Opie and I created linocuts and a good time was had by all. We both loved the prints we got back. Here's a few pics from some of the artists.

The exhibit will be in two gallery shows - on both the East and West Coast.

So if you're in New York do stop by ... the prints are exhibting for pretty much the entire month of September!

Morgan Open House and Silent Auction is Tonight

i know it's last minute but if you're in cleveland tonight - you won't want to miss this:

 
This year's Open House promises to be a great event with hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, demonstrations, and live music with the BW Contemporary Jazz Quintet. The Silent Auction 1(Snail Mail/Paper Trail) features art created on Morgan handmade paper by local and national artists. Silent Auction II is a collection of artworks and many surprise items.

And we created a very special Papier Mache Dada Doll just for the occasion!

The Opening at Valley Art was Fantastic and Full

it was great to see our artist friends - several of whom it's been years. friendship is so precious - why do we let so much time go by??? we all vowed to never let that happen again!

and here's our piece "Bliss" - and "Happy"from gail crum - whose work we've always admired since our first gallery show together back in 2001. the bottom piece is from jeff kallet - a talented artist that we've never met. his corrugated cardboard pieces were totally unique.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

however - we finally did meet shirley ende saxe in person - although we've "known" each other for many years. all of her pieces were too cool for words but this particular piece was especially hard to photograph - although i really do love the double-exposure effect opie got when he took the shot with me off to the side. i freeze up if i know a camera is nearby - but this time i was blissfully unaware.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and here's our last pic. we didn't have time to photograph everything since we were also there to talk about our upcoming metal collage workshop on saturday May 14th - 10am -5pm and show what our students have done in past collage a' trois workshops.

Piecing It All Together: The Art of Collage Gallery Show

Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, OH is havinga show on collage and is featuring our Collage A' Trois metal collage series.

 

We dropped off our work earlier today and was blown away by the eclectic mix of art and artists.

 

The opening reception will be held on Friday - April 1st, 6 - 8 PM

The show will be up Apr 2 - May 19 and we hope to see you there.

 

We've also been invited to teach a Collage A' Trois 1-day workshop on saturday May 14
