We’ve done this art venue since its beginning and this year was the best to date.
The week began on Thursday with The Path of Least Resistance – a workshop which focused on a multitude of jewelry techniques including; cutting and forming metal, riveting, ageing and patina, etching, wire wrapping, and a few favorite torch techniques. It was a full and fun day and students left with both an appreciation for jewelry making and the knowledge to go forth and make it. Sadly, due to lighting/camera issues, we didn’t get a lot of pics in this class, or Torch Song Trilogy: Further Explorations of Enamels on Metal, or Armchair Travel to Imaginary Realms but we did manage to shoot half of the box constructions from The Women of Juarez and here's some of our students work:
Saturday was the vendor event and a good time was by all. Everything from art supplies to unique artwork was offered, appreciated, and purchased.
One of our students gifted me with this beautiful assemblage she made. Her generous appreciation of our time together touched my heart and her piece now sits in my studio with all of my beloved treasures. Isn’t it beautiful?
Our last workshop was on Sunday – Armchair Travels to Imaginary Realms and it was the perfect ending to a perfect week. All of our students in each class was so talented and open to learning new things and seeing and spending time with friends we only get to see yearly was an extra added bonus. As you can see we are tired but happy as I put away the last of my tools and Opie prepares to put away his camera and load up the vehicle.
We’re home in our studio now preparing for our Collage a’ Trois workshop at Valley Art Center on Saturday. We are thrilled that it has sold out yet again. It remains one of our most popular workshops.
I will try to post about it next week but our last "teaching out" workshop is at the Morgan on May 21-22 and there’s always some last minute thing to be done-or packed-or... We have 2 spots left and hope you will join us if you can, as after that we’ll be taking an indefinite break to explore new territories and focus on new work. We’re very excited about this - and as a result - we plan to offer free tutorials on our blog sometime in june, as soon as we purge and then redo our studios.
good things are coming!
ditto sweets - and just as soon as we finish our may classes i'm going make a post about my wonderful tillie that you gifted me with! oxoxo
